Linkeepoo of the moment...

You know what's wrong with this country? We don't track the blowhards. All these experts and talking heads spouting pablum like a toddler being force-fed creamed asparagus, with just about as much accountability. And if you're here, that means you're probably a friend of mine, which means you are definitely a pablum spouting blowhard, too. Now, you can put your money where you mouth is and bet on your worldview. Poolitics is a site where bets are taken on world events and if you're right, then you win the money put up by those losers who guessed wrong. From the site:

"Poolitics is the world's first and only pari-mutuel blog — a place where ideologues of all stripes and colors can put their money where their mouth is by entering real-money predictive contests (Pools)."

So, smarty pants, why don't you go and lay some money down to back up your fanciful conspiracy theories. It's only $1.20 per prediction. Surely you can afford to give rational people like me $1.20?

Not to get all literary on your ass, but...

I don't know why, but lately I have become facinated with the idea of collecting my favorite books in hardcover. I have hundreds of paperbacks lying around, but for some reason I want a bit more permanence. So when I came across an article in Vanity Fair about the revival of Everyman's Library I was intrigued. This imprint produces high quality (" Each volume is printed on acid-free, cream-wove paper with full-cloth sewn bindings, gold stamping, and silk ribbon markers") books for a few bucks more than the paperback version. Older editions are traded and collected. Their catalogue contains over 1000 books. If I get serious about this and collect a few title's, maybe I can even pass them down to the kids when the time comes. (I can hear them now- "Great. Dad left me his books. The house would have been a nice gesture, but I got books.")

Free directory info?

Can you really get free directory assistance by dialing 1-800-free 411? Well, I checked it out and it turns out that you can. In your face, Bell South!

Find myself a city to live in...

Are you East Coast, West Coast or flyover? Compare you city with other US cities, or check out prospective places to live in. You can even find the city that best fits what you look for in a place to call home. My best fit- Berkeley Ca, of course. (Median home price- $750,000. Hmm, I'll have to pick up some extra shifts...)

How you will waste the next 5 minutes of your life...

You know you want to dig a hole to the other side of the Earth!
